WATERLOO – A Waterloo man has been arrested following a chase with a stolen car Monday morning.

Black Hawk County sheriff’s deputies arrested Jose Juan Guzman-Carillo, 23, of 1943 Byron Ave., for felony eluding, possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, second-degree theft and driving while suspended.

Authorities said the car he was driving, a black Chevrolet Cobalt, had been reported stolen from Greene.

A deputy attempted to stop the car in the area of West Third Street and Kimball Avenue around 8:10 a.m. Monday after realizing the vehicle was stolen.

The Cobalt driver initially pulled over but then took off, running a red light at Six Corners and heading up Campbell Avenue at 60 mph, court records state.

After running a second stoplight, the driver stopped in the area of Fletcher and Kingsley avenues, and deputies found 15 grams of meth in his shirt pocket and a digital scale in his coat pocket, court records state.
