WATERLOO – A Waterloo man who led police on a 100-mph chase Wednesday morning before running out of gas has been arrested in Bremer County.

Police said that after Eric Dale Livingston’s vehicle stopped on an empty tank, he ran off and remained at large for several hours before a Bremer County sheriff’s deputy detained him.

Livingston, 29, of 315 E. Sixth St., was returned to Waterloo where he was arrested for misdemeanor eluding, interference and driving while suspended. He was also arrested on a parole violation, and he was being held without bond.

According to court records, a Waterloo patrol officer attempted to stop Livingston’s Buick Rendezvous for a traffic violation around 2 a.m. in the area of Ankeny and Newell streets. The pursuit continued for several miles, at times passing speed of 100 mph, until the Buick sputtered to a stop on Highway 63 just south of Highway 3.

Livingston then fled on foot, ignoring orders to stop, court records state.
