WEST UNION — A Postville man is jailed on a Class A felony of kidnapping after reportedly taking two 13-year-olds to a remote area and sexually assaulting them.
The incident happened June 4, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office. On June 6, deputies were notified that two 13-year-old females were picked up without permission and/or knowledge of a parent and/or guardian in the 100 block of East Bradford Street in West Union by a 19-year-old male.
The girls were driven into the county where they were taken to a remote area north of West Union and allegedly sexually assaulted by the male, deputies said. The females were returned to West Union the same day.

Upon completion of the investigation, Wilmer Elias Soy, 19, of Postville, was arrested June 21 and transported to the Fayette County Jail and charged with first-degree kidnapping, a Class A felony punishable upon conviction of life by prison.
Soy is currently being held on $250,000 bond. Kidnapping in the first degree is when the person kidnapped, as a consequence of the kidnapping, suffers sexual abuse. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office along with the Domestic and Sexual Abuse Response Team, assisted the two female victims by providing them with resources to help them and their families throughout this process. The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in the investigation.
