WATERLOO – A Waterloo man was arrested in a field following an early morning chase that cut through a mobile home park Wednesday.

Anthony Dean Deckard, 28, was arrested for felony eluding, driving while barred, interference, and possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

The pursuit started shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday when a police officer spotted Deckard in the 4000 block of East Shaulis Road and knew he was wanted on an outstanding probation revocation warrant stemming from a stolen check conviction.

Deckard allegedly climbed into a white van, which drove off without headlights. The officer attempted to stop the van, which continued to Dysart Road and then turned onto Orange Road. The van circled through South View Estates mobile home park and returned to Orange Road, going 90 mph in a 55-mph zone, according to court records.

After crossing Highway 21 and continuing west, the van ran into a ditch at the T intersection with Acker Road. Deckard allegedly ran from the van and was tracked down by a police K-9, records state.

Police found a glass bong that contained meth in the vehicle.
