WATERLOO — An autopsy was scheduled for Monday for a Waterloo man who died following a Friday afternoon shooting.

Fredrick Dewayne Webber, 33, was a passenger in a sport utility vehicle when he was struck by gunfire around 3:55 p.m. Friday, Waterloo police said.

He was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City where he was pronounced dead.

The driver, 20-year-old Robert Coffer, of Waterloo, also was injured in the shooting. He is in stable condition at that same hospital and is expected to survive, police said.

No arrests have been made in Webber’s death.

Witnesses told police the SUV was traveling in the 100 block of Center Street when someone in another vehicle began shooting at it. Coffer drove about seven blocks to the 1200 block of Ackermant Street where police and paramedics found them, said Capt. David Mohlis with the Waterloo Police Department.
