WATERLOO – A man serving time for violating sex offender registry requirements has died while at the Waterloo Work Release Facility.
Paramedics and police were called to the facility at 310 E. Sixth St. around 8:45 a.m. Thursday after staff found 44-year-old Chad William Polley dead in his bed.
The cause of death hasn’t been determined, and an autopsy will be conducted at the State Medical Examiner’s Facility in Ankeny. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the death, which is standard procedure for death in correctional settings.
Polley, of Waterloo, had been serving his sentence in the work release facility for felony second-offense sex offender registry violation since August 2016.
