FLOYD | An attorney for Casey Frederiksen, the man accused of killing 5-year-old Evelyn Miller, is asking for a continuance to delay his trial.
Frederiksen, 34, is charged with first-degree murder and first-degree sexual abuse stemming from the little girl's death in the 2005. His trial is scheduled to begin May 5 in Hamilton County District Court in Webster City.

A motion filed Tuesday by Frederiksen's attorney, Aaron Hawbaker of Cedar Falls, seeking additional time to prepare.
The court has not issued a decision on whether to grant the delay.
Frederiksen's trial will not be in Floyd County because of a change of venue. The court cited extensive publicity surrounding the case.
Frederiksen was the live-in boyfriend of Evelyn's mother, Noel Miller. Authorities charged him in September. He is being held in the Bremer County Jail in Waverly. Bond is set at $2 million.
