WATERLOO — American Legion Post 138 at 728 Commercial St. has several events planned.

On Tuesday bingo is planned for at 6:15 and 7 p.m. A grill-out with chicken, hotdogs and brats is planned at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

A 6:30 p.m. Auxiliary dinner is free for all prospective members Thursday.

A pepper tournament will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday. Bingo is planned for 1:15 and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Noon Kiwanis meets Tuesday

WATERLOO — Mike Knipp of the Northeast Iowa Food Bank will speak to the Waterloo Noon Kiwanis Club at noon Tuesday at the Elks Club.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers.

Legion Post 636 hosts breakfast

DUNKERTON — An American Legion Post 636 pancake breakfast is set for 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Dunkerton Community Hall.

The menu includes pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, coffee, milk and juice.

Donations will be taken, with proceeds for improvements at the Dunkerton Veterans Park.

Proud Image set to perform

ALLISON — The Proud Image Barbershop Chorus, a male chorus of 25 singers, will be featured at Wilder Park at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Popcorn, walking tacos and pie and ice cream will be available. Admission is free; bring lawn chairs.

Lions Club hosts meal on Sunday

WAVERLY — The Waverly Lions Club will have a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Waverly Airport as part of the Heritage Days festivities.

Tickets for adults are $6, children ages 4-12 are $3, and children younger than 4 are free.

Used eyeglasses and hearing aids are being collected.

NAMI to offer free classes

WATERLOO — NAMI Black Hawk County will offer a free 12-week class for family members, partners or significant others who have adult relatives with mental illness.

The weekly class, taught by trained family members, begins Aug. 30 and runs through Nov. 15. Participants must register by Aug. 8.

It will be from 6 to 8:30 pm at First Congregational Church, 608 W. Fourth St.

Blood drive set in Cedar Falls

CEDAR FALLS — First United Methodist Church, 718 Clay St., will host a blood drive from 12:30 to 6 p.m. July 23.
