Hick’s Place

festival slated

CEDAR FALLS — Hick’s Place will host a Hick’s for the Heroes Music Festival from 2 to 8 p.m. May 26 at 6658 Pashby Road.

Headliner will be Grammy-nominated blues artist Randy McAlister. He will be followed by local alternative rock band Beyond the Silence.

The event is a fundraiser for the annual Annual Military Family Appreciation Day in August.

Tickets are currently on sale on Eventbrite, at Hicks Place and at Beaver Creek Bar and Grill in New Hartford. Event tickets will include the music festival as well as the other activities at Hick’s Place.

Library to host

photo class

DENVER — The Denver Public Library will host “From Photos To Photoshop” at 10 a.m. April 28.

Participants can learn how to take their digital photos to the next level using software already on their Windows computer. The class also will show students some of the features of Photoshop, a program that has become much more affordable and offers the user many photo editing capabilities.

Kim Van Deest, technology trainer, and David Marvitz, professional photographer, will be the instructors for the class. Participants are welcome to bring their laptops and digital photos to class. There is no cost to attend, but those interested are asked to pre-register by calling the library at 984-5140.

WATERLOO — In July, the Bluedorn Science Imaginarium, 322 Washington St., will kick off 25 days of science with the “Silver Celebration.”

Featured activities will take place throughout the month on the main level of the Imaginarium.

Activities will be aabout dinosaurs, ancient engineering, the Wright brothers, shocking science and videogame physics.

at Wilder Park

ALLISON — Wilder Park will have 10 full-season and 10 extended-stay camping sites available this year.

Sites will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis with a deposit of $250 when reservations are confirmed.

WATERLOO — The Grout Museum District, 503 South St., will present Weekly Wonders activities throughout June, Tuesday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Plans include:

  • June 12-15, Museum Hunting.
  • June 19-22, Collections Playlab.
  • June 26-29, The Cosmos.

These activities are included with regular admission.
