WATERLOO — Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, 1307 W. Ridgeway Ave., will host a summer vacation Bible school from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.

It’s designed for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade. Theme is “Time Lab — Discovering Jesus from Eternity Part to Eternity Future.”

Dinner will be provided at 5:30 p.m. each night with parents included. Magician and illusionist Rik Reuter also will take part.

Payne AME hosts Christmas in July

WATERLOO — The Sunday School Department of Payne AME Church, 1044 Mobile St., will have a Christmas in July vendor fair and barbecue from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

There will be jewelry, clothes, crafts, health care products, baby items, home decor and more available for purchase.

The menu includes hot dogs, brats, hamburgers and side dishes.

Church hosts Bible studies

WATERLOO — Bible study sessions are planned for 7 p.m. Wednesday nights at Seventh Day Adventist Church, 550 W. Airline Highway.

They will focus on the books of Daniel and Revelation. The meetings are free and open to the public.

Faith Lutheran sets Bible school

WATERLOO — Faith Lutheran Church, 1555 W. Ridgeway Ave., Waterloo, will have vacation Bible school from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.

A light supper will be served for a donation for children at 5 p.m. Theme is “Splash Canyon.”

Mount Carmel to host meal

WATERLOO — Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 805 Adams St., will serve food on the grounds from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

There is a choice of dinners or sandwiches — catfish, barbecued ribs or Polish sausage, along with potato salad, green beans and dessert.

Pope Francis topic of forum

WATERLOO — The Waterloo Parishes summer forum series will continue at 7 p.m. Tuesday, with Dr. Jacob Kohlhaas and Stacia McDermott from Loras College.

They will discuss why some people love Pope Francis and others hate him.

The programs are free and open to the public. Programs meet at COR, 220 E. Fourth St.

Food and beverages are available before and during the program.

Bible talks set at CF library

CEDAR FALLS — Bible discussion meetings are scheduled for Sundays in July from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Cedar Falls Public Library, 524 Main St., (classroom upstairs).

Catholic Parishes host COR event

WATERLOO — The Catholic Parishes in Waterloo will host a COR discussion from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at 220 E. Fourth St.

COR discussion nights focus on a particular Catholic topic and are open to the public. This week’s topic is “Prayer — My Relationship with God.”

The discussion takes place in an informal and friendly atmosphere .

St. Ansgar hosts Christmas in July

WATERLOO — St. Ansgar Lutheran Church will host a “Christmas in July” event in conjunction with a rummage and bake sale.

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 21, the Rev. Kristen Wipperman will lead a Christmas in July celebration, a free, family-friendly event, open to the community.

Family activities include traditional Christmas festivities, such as decorating sugar cookies and making crafts.

The rummage and bake sales are set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 20 and continue through 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Moose Lodge plans events

WASHBURN — The Moose Lodge will serve an omelet and waffle breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday.

Tacos are on the menu from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, with a cold plate meal Wednesday and tenderloins from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

There will be an all-you-can eat fish and salad bar from 5 to 7 p.m. July 27.

Grace Reformed hosts potluck

WATERLOO — Grace Reformed Church will host a summer concert, service and potluck at 10 a.m. Sunday at the church, 520 Maxwell St.

The 4-TEH gospel quartet will perform at no charge. Donations will be accepted, and a nursery will be available.

A potluck will follow the event, with beverages and table service provided. Bring a hot and/or cold dish to share if possible. Everyone is welcome.
