Music series set for Sunday

WAVERLY — Waverly Chamber Music Series is set to host John Krebs, a collaborative pianist, and Philip Wharton, a composer/violinist, in a 2 p.m. performance Sunday in the Narthex at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 301 First St. NW.

Krebs has experience performing piano in countries such as Germany, Scotland and Thailand as well as teaching in Midwestern colleges.

All individuals with an interest in music are invited; the event is free to the public and open to any age. Attendees can wear casual dress and are encouraged to support the WCMS through free-will donations. For more information, go to or email

Legion hosts weekly events

WATERLOO — American Legion Post 138 at 728 Commercial St. has several events planned.

A grill-out is set for noon to 3 p.m. today, and bingo is again set for 6:15 p.m. Friday. There will be fish and tenderloin baskets from noon to 6 p.m.

A pepper tournament will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, and breakfast is served from 9 a.m. to noon p.m. Sunday.

The public is welcome.

Fish fry set in Waverly

WAVERLY — The WAVERLY AMVETS Post 79 will host a fish fry from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday at 1300 Fourth St. NW.

The menu includes cod, potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw and bread. Cost is $10.
