WATERLOO — Angie Widner has been named the new CEO of the Family YMCA of Black Hawk County, located in Waterloo.
Widner has past YMCA experience, including director of the Global Teens Program at the International YMCA in New York City and as the youth and family director for the South Valley Family YMCA in California.
For the past nine years, she’s served as a faculty member at the University of Northern Iowa, where she also assisted in directing the UNI Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. She taught primarily in the areas of leisure, recreation and nonprofit management.
Widner is a graduate of Wartburg College. She has a master’s in youth and human service administration from the University of Northern Iowa and is currently a doctoral candidate in education.
She and her husband, Eric, have five daughters, ranging in age from 22 months to 22 years.
Two meet-and-greet sessions will be held — 11 a. m. to noon Jan. 23 and 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 24 — at the Y, 669 S. Hackett Road. All members of the Y and the community are welcome to attend.
