WATERLOO — Mary Regina Thoman, 100, of Mitchell, S.D., formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, Feb. 2, at Avera Brady Health and Rehab.

She was born Sept. 26, 1917, in Kansas City, Mo., to Amanda Blackburn of Stafford, Kan. She was adopted by Amandus and Ida Brill Georges. On Feb. 15, 1947, she married Charles S. Thoman in Cherokee. He preceded her in death in 1986.

She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Cherokee.

Survived by: her children, Mary Jo (Jack) Spicer of Edwards, Mo., Jeanie (Dr. Paul) Sosnouski of Ames, Kay (Bill) Whiteside of Mitchell, Joe (Vicky) Thoman of Manchester, and Steve (Madeline) Thoman of Granite Bay, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: her husband; her siblings, Kathryn Georges, Joseph Georges and Louie Georges; and her grandson, Dr. Ryan Whiteside.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at Blessed Sacrament Church with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Bittner Funeral Chapel, Mitchell, is in charge of arrangements.

Mary was a devoted Catholic, loved plants and cats, and always enjoyed coffee with her friends.
