TRAER — Kim Leroy Pecenka, 56, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Traer, died Wednesday, March 10, in Omaha following a sudden illness.
He was born Oct. 6, 1953, in Waterloo, son of Gaylord and Phyllis Kostlan Pecenka. He married Cathy Merrick on Feb. 8, 1975, and they later divorced.
Mr. Pecenka graduated from North Tama School in 1971 and continued his education at Hawkeye Community College, Waterloo. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS John S. McCain. He did farm work as well as heating and air conditioning.

Survived by: a son, Michael of Omaha; two daughters, Christina (Tommy) Davis and Emily Pecenka, both of St. James, Mo.; two grandchildren; his mother of Traer; a brother, Kevin (Vicki) of Traer; and a sister, Janice Palmer of Plattsmouth, Neb.
Private family services: were held at Overton Funeral Home, Traer. Burial with military rites by Traer American Legion was in Buckingham Cemetery, Traer.
