WATERLOO -- Johnnie Cryer Jr., 59, of Waterloo, died at home Jan. 29 of natural causes.

He was born Oct. 3, 1958, in Iowa City, son of Johnnie Cryer Sr. and Margarite Love. 

He was 1976 graduate of East High School. He formerly worked at Goodwill Services and was a bellringer for the Salvation Army.

Survived by: his mother, Margarite Johnson of Waterloo; a brother, Larry Buchanan of Waterloo; four sisters, D'Lesia (Bill) Sharpe of Davenport, and Lillie (Brian) Phillips, Veronica (Roy) Buchanan and Titania (David) Buchanan, all of Waterloo; and his stepfather, Ickey (Mary) Buchanan of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: his stepfather, Robert L. Johnson; maternal grandparents, Robert and Lillie Love; paternal grandparents, Henrietta and Johnnie Cryer; a brother, Elbert James Cryer; a sister, Brenda Fisher; and his father, Johnnie Cryer Sr.

Memorial services: 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at Antioch Baptist Church. Friends may call at the church an hour before services Friday. Sanders Funeral Service is assisting the family.
