WATERLOO — James “Jim” Behrens Capelle, 78, of Waterloo, formerly of Spring Valley, Minn., died at home Tuesday, May 16.
He was born Jan. 31, 1939, in Rochester, Minn., son of Clarence and Audrey Behrens Capelle. He married Donnamae Alice McGinley on Sept. 24, 1960, at the Methodist Church in Dodge Center, Minn.
He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1957 in Spring Valley, and he served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam from 1961-1967. Jim worked part time at Champlin Gas Station; and then worked for 40 years at John Deere & Co. as a supervisor, retiring in 1999. He was a member of Waterloo AMVETS Post No. 19, the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 764 and Moose Lodge of Washburn No. 328.
Survived by: his wife; two sons, Jeff of Santee, Calif., and Robert (Michele) of Waterloo; two grandsons, Skyler Lee Capelle and Alex James Capelle; a brother, Michael of Rochester; and a sister, Carole Ann (Kenny) Hodson of Ostrander, Minn.
Preceded in death by: his parents; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Capelle.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 22, at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 and the U.S. Army Funeral Honors Detail. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at the funeral home.
