Much of the public pays attention to the veterans of the movie industry. Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep and Maggie Smith, to name a few, are still acting giants whose projects often receive a lot of buzz. The next generation of Hollywood stars, however, are starting to gain acclaim. From Jennifer Lawrence, who was first nominated for an Oscar at 21 and later won in 2013, to Brie Larson, who won the Oscar for best actress earlier this year, these young actors and actresses represent a barometer for the Hollywood of the future.
To determine which Hollywood stars' careers are gaining steam, PrettyFamous looked at actors under 30 who have starred in more movies in the last five years (2012 - 2016) than the five years prior (2007 - 2011). Only celebrities who have starred in at least three movies in the past five years were considered. Then actors and actresses were ranked according to their Actor Score. This is a score out of 100 that takes into account the total number of IMDb votes for the TV shows and movies they have appeared in, their Wikipedia page views over the past 30 days and the total number of award nominations they have received.
Note: In the case of a tie, the actor who starred in more movies between 2012 and 2016 was favored. To qualify as having "starred" in a film, a celebrity had to be one of the first four credited actors in the movie.
