CEDAR FALLS | A graphic designer and one-half of the Cedar Valley band Noe Clu is releasing a solo project with an album party and visual art show Friday at Sidecar Coffee.

On his collection of original material, "Night & Day," Ben Rendall spins poppy licks and ear worms but pairs the bubblegum sounds with poetic, thoughtful lyrics.

The event is free to the public, and his three-track EP will be available for $5. Rendall will also perform.

The album was more than a year in the making, Rendall said. It was produced by Nate Schaefer at Invictus Studios in Davenport. Finding time to get into the studio was one of the biggest obstacles to getting the album produced in a timely fashion, he added.

On display at the release party will be illustrations Rendall created that were inspired by the music. Anyone who buys an illustration will get a copy of the EP.

The show and release party is at 7:30 p.m. at Sidecar Coffee, 2215 College St.
