Iowa Grocers Education Foundation awards grants

The Iowa Grocers Education Foundation has awarded scholarships to several area students.

Iowa Grocers Education Foundation scholarships, worth $1,500 or $2,000, will go to Shaffer Kirschenmann, a graduate of Cedar Falls High School; Noel Mills, a graduate of Waterloo West High School; and Sydney Weldon, also a graduate of West High School.

Kirschenmann, who is majoring in English and anthropology and will be a freshman at the University of Iowa this fall, received the scholarship as an employee of Fareway in Cedar Falls. Mills, who is majoring in environmental policy and planning and will be a junior at Iowa this fall, received the scholarship as an employee of Hy-Vee in Iowa City.

Weldon, who is majoring in biology and will be a senior at Iowa State University next year, received the scholarship as the daughter of Cammy Weldon, an employee of Hy-Vee in Waterloo.

Daria Dilparic, a graduate of Waterloo East High School, has been awarded the $2,000 F. William Beckwith scholarship through the Iowa Grocers Education Foundation for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Dilparic, who is majoring in civil engineering and will be a freshman at ISU this fall, received the grant as an employee of Fareway in Evansdale.
