THERESA LARSON joined Cedar Valley Eye Care as a staff ophthalmologist. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in biology from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., and attended medical school at Vanderbilt University. After an internship and residency at the Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education, she served as a clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology in the Dean McGee Eye Institute at the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City.
MISSY NEEBEL was promoted at Veridian Credit Union as branch manager of its Cedar Heights location. Neebel, a Waterloo native, has worked at Veridian for 20 years. She was the branch manager of Veridian’s location in Independence. She has a bachelor’s degree in business management from Upper Iowa University.
RAJANI UPPALA, MD, CINDY HANAWALT, MD, DAWN DAVIES, PMHNP, and MICHAEL GERBER, DNP-FNP joined Peoples Community Health Clinic Inc. Dr. Upalla is a full-time pediatrician. She is board eligible in pediatrics and is a graduate of Gandhi Medical College in India. She completed her residency program with Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center in New York. Dr. Hanawalt, a full-time physician, is board certified in family medicine, holds a master’s degree in community health, a Ph.D. in preventative medicine and is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Medicine. She practiced for 14 years in Cedar Rapids. Davies is a full-time psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. She is board certified and received her master's degree in psychiatric mental health at the State University of New York, Binghamton, N.Y. Gerber is a full-time nurse practitioner. He is board certified as a family nurse practitioner and received his doctorate of nursing degree at the University of Missouri.
KAYLA PROSSER joined Hurley & Associates as risk management consultant in their Grundy Center office. Kayla, a licensed commodities broker, attended Iowa State University majoring in agricultural studies.
SHARON VANDER KOLK and SHANA HOLMES joined Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Iowa. Vander Kolk, of Waverly, is an executive assistant. She graduated from Hamilton College in 2004, has worked for the R.J. McElroy Trust as administrative assistant since 2004 and will split her time between the two organizations. Holmes, of Waterloo, is a match support specialist. She graduated from Wartburg College in 2016 with a degree in social work.
VGM Group Inc.’s HOMELINK division has added three associates to its team. ALEXIS McGRANE is a workers’ compensation patient care coordinator. She also is a student at Kaplan University. JESSICA ARREAZA is a bilingual patient care coordinator, and MATTHEW PAAR is a patient care coordinator.
STEVE HUSOME, president of the HusomeStrong Foundation, was certified by the Amputee Coalition of America as a peer visitor during the recent ACA National Conference. Husome is now qualified to assist patients who request a peer visitor to help them answer questions about living with limb loss.
