WATERLOO | Short’s Travel Management announced Thursday it has named David Hughes as president of the Waterloo-based company, effective immediately.
Hughes will maintain his previous responsibilities, which include chief financial officer, as well as overseeing finance, human resources, information technology and operations.
Hughes has more than 27 years of experience in the travel, insurance, manufacturing, publishing and retail industries. He is a certified public accountant with a degree from the University of Northern Iowa.
Prior to joining Short’s Travel in 2008, Hughes was the director of product finance for a global financial services provider to credit unions and spent five years in public accounting.
“He not only has the work ethic, but the ability to strategically map out short and long-term solutions for the company,” Short’s CEO David LeCompte said in a news release. “Dave has the skills and background to continue leading the company in the right direction.”
In 2007, Hughes was one of six out of 3,500 awarded the CUNA Mutual Group’s Values in Practice award for consistently driving exceptional results. Hughes also has extensive experience with reorganizations and transformations.
Hughes will continue to work at Short’s headquarters in Waterloo.
