Winnebago featured on Fortune growth list

FOREST CITY -- Recreational vehicle manufacturer Winnebago Industries Inc. has been listed as one of Fortune Magazine’s “100 Fastest Growing Companies.”

Forest City-based Winnebago was No. 65.

Dot Transportation seeks area drivers

MT. STERLING, Ill. — Dot Transportation Inc., a subsidiary of food redistributor Dot Foods, has opened a satellite location in Charles City, and DTI representatives are recruiting 10 experienced truck drivers.

Interested drivers are encouraged to apply online for the Customer Delivery Specialist position at www.drivefordot.com.

DTI is currently working with the Charles City Chamber of Commerce to scout potential business locations, with the only requirement being parking space for a minimum of 10 tractor trailers, preferably on a secure lot.

Farmers State Bank sets Riverside trip

WATERLOO -- Farmers State Bank, 1009 Peoples Square, has scheduled a trip to Riverside Casino in Riverside for Oct. 30.

Cost is $35 per person and includes lunch buffet, $10 free play and transportation.

Reservation deadline is Oct. 23.

Advance Iowa program begins work at UNI

CEDAR FALLS — The University of Northern Iowa’s Advance Iowa program, the state’s only certified Economic Gardening center, has officially started.

Advance Iowa is an economic development program that focuses on the expansion of small and medium-sized businesses using the Economic Gardening approach. Economic Gardening is often referred to as a “grow your own” strategy for economic development and is a proven economic growth strategy that focuses on providing information and tools to grow existing businesses.

To use this approach to meet the unique needs of Iowa, the Advance Iowa team consists of skilled researchers who mine sophisticated databases and use high-end tools related to search engine optimization, geographic information systems and social media marketing.

Younkers part of parent company’s Goodwill Sale

MILWAUKEE -- Bon-Ton Stores Inc., of which the Younkers stores in Waterloo and Cedar Falls are a part, is having its semi-annual Goodwill Sale now through Oct. 5.

The Milwaukee-based company said shoppers are rewarded with coupons to their local Bon-Ton store by donating gently used clothing, noting that all items received are donated to Goodwill Industries in the local communities where they are collected.

InformationWeek ranks CUNA Mutual Group 19th 

WAVERLY — CUNA Mutual Group has been ranked No. 19 in this year’s InformationWeek 500, a list of the top technology innovators in the U.S.

The company was honored for its Retirement Radar mobile annuity planning application. It is the 11th year CUNA Mutual Group has been named to the InformationWeek 500 and the second time it has ranked in the Top 20.

It was the highest-ranked insurance company on the 2013 list, which can be found at www.informationweek.com/500.
