GENERAL LABORER - WATERLOO IOWA

Position requirements: 

This entry level position is responsible for cleaning and prepping flat cars for John Deere Tractor loading.  Cleaning and housekeeping of all assigned areas in or around Linden Yard and Bryant Yard.  Assisting with servicing and maintaining diesel locomotives in accordance with federal and company regulations.  Help with testing, inspecting and properly assisting with equipment and machinery. 

 

Applicant must be able to work on and around heavy and moving machinery.  Bend, walk, stand and sit for extended periods.  Perform heavy work, lifting/carrying of up to 50 pounds, climbing, balancing skills, stooping, squatting, kneeling and overhead work.  Responsible for performing duties and working hours as scheduled, including overtime, holidays, nights, weekends and travel as necessary.

 

The location of work performed (frequently out-of-doors) and the tools and material used in the surrounding work-place, expose the incumbent to the following conditions on a regular basis: weather, heat (from locomotives), water (from snow, ice and locomotive cleaning operations), oil, grease, and battery acid, noise (from machinery) and fumes.  The job requires the individual to follow standard safety procedures, be alert, and take necessary precautions (e.g., wearing/using protective clothes and equipment) to avoid possible injuries.

 

High school graduate or equivalent required.   Must have a valid driver’s license with no more than 3 violations in the last 3 years and no major violations.
