AMES — Rider scored bonus points in three matches and edged Iowa State 22-15 in a college wrestling dual meet Sunday at Hilton Coliseum.
Each team won five matches, but a major decision, a pin and a technical fall gave Rider (1-1) the edge.
Marcus Harrington got Iowa State (0-2) off to an early lead with an 8-3 decision at 285 pounds, and the Cyclones also got wins from Kanen Storr, Jarrett Degen, Dane Pestano and Sam Colbray.
The 157-pound match proved to be a turning point. Rider led 10-9 at that point, and B.J. Clagon scored a reversal as time expired for a 13-11 win over Chase Straw.
