The 2007-08 Western Wrestling Conference all-league teams, released Thursday, had a decided Northern Iowa flavor.
The Panthers produced six first-team wrestlers, plus the conference's Freshman of the Year (Nick Pickerell) and overall Wrestler of the Year (Moza Fay).
UNI's first-teamers were: Josh Baldridge (at 133 pounds); Tyson Reiner (157); Andy O'Loughlin (184); and Andrew Anderson (197), along with Fay and Pickerell.
Fay went 25-8 overall this season, a mark that included a 6-0 record against WWC opponents. The 165-pounder became UNI's first all-American since 2005, after beating three ranked wrestlers at the recent NCAA Championships and placing fifth. Fay led the Panthers in pins this year, with 11.
Pickerell went 21-9 this season at 149, highlighted by a first-place finish at both the Jim Fox Open and the Flash Flanagan Open.
Also earning postseason laurels for the Panthers were: Alex Dolly (174 pounds, second team); and Caleb Flores (125), C.J. Ettelson (141) and Dustin Bauman (285), who all made the league's third team.
Air Force's Joel Sharratt, a former Iowa wrestler, was named WWC Coach of the Year, after leading his Falcons to a 9-9 overall dual mark.
