- The Iowa State men’s golf team maintained a share of the NCAA Stockton Regional 36-hole lead with Alabama after Tuesday’s round at the Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton, Calif.
The Cyclones shot a second round 284 and have a two-round total of 562. ISU and the Crimson Tide sit one-stroke ahead of Kansas with 18 holes of golf to play. The top-five teams in each of the six regionals qualify for the Division I championship in Stillwater, Okla.
ISU has two golfers in the top ten, led by Denzel Ieremia, who has carded back-to-back 68s, and is third. Sam Vincent has a pair of rounds at 69 and is tied for sixth.
In Columbus, Ohio, University of Iowa sophomore Alex Schaake is tied for 24th after the second round of a NCAA regional at the Scarlet Course was shortened Tuesday.
The final four holes of round two will be resumed at 6 a.m. today, with round three to follow.
Schaake was three-over for the day and five-over for the tournament when round two was suspended.
- Wartburg College senior Nate Woeste has received a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship the NCAA announced Tuesday.
Woeste is the 41st recipient from Wartburg and fourth from the men’s basketball program. Woeste is planning on attending optometry school at the Ohio State University.
The NCAA awards up to 175 postgraduate scholarships annually and the one-time grant of $7,500 each are awarded for fall sports, winter sports and spring sports.
