MADISON, Wis. — Waterloo peppered Madison with 56 shots on net, but Capitols goaltender Dryden McKay stopped all but one Friday in a 4-1 United States Hockey League win over the Black Hawks.

It was the first regulation loss for Waterloo (16-10-2-1) in the last seven games while Madison (12-14-0-2) improved to 5-0-0-1 in its last six games.

The Black Hawks unable to capitalize on an early opportunity when a pair of Capitols went to the penalty box in the first 1:06. Waterloo outshot Madison 16-4 in the period, but had nothing on the scoreboard.

Madison broke up the scoreless dual 13:40 into the second and doubled its lead at the 15:02 mark.

The Capitols went up 3-0 midway through the third and although Waterloo kept the pressure on with 23 shots on goal in the final period, Jack Drury’s power-play tally at the 16:09 mark was the Black Hawks’ only goal.

Mick Messner had a three-goal hat trick, all unassisted, for Madison.
