WATERLOO — Fargo held Waterloo to just 11 shots on net and no goals over the final two periods Friday as the Force grabbed a 3-1 United States Hockey League victory at Young Arena.

Fargo (4-2-1-1) took a 2-0 first-period lead with a goal at 6:41 and a power-play tally at 11:02. Waterloo (4-2-0-0) broke through at 16:24 when Jackson Cates converted assists by Jeremy Jaques and Ethan Johnson for a 2-1 game, but that was it for the Black Hawks.

Waterloo goalie Matej Tomek denied Fargo’s Mark Senden on a penalty shot in the second period to keep the game at 2-1.

The Black Hawks went 0-for-4 on the power play.
