WATERLOO — Joey Cassetti’s first goal for the Waterloo Black Hawks turned out to be the game-winner Friday in a 3-2 United States Hockey League win over Dubuque at Young Arena.

Waterloo broke into the lead 5 minutes, 24 seconds into the game on Bobby Trivigno’s power-play goal. Mason Palmer upped the lead to 2-0 with :32 left in the period.

Dubuque picked up a power-play score 7:19 into the second period, but Cassetti’s tally restored the two-goal margin with 1:47 left in the period.

The Fighting Saints (4-5-2-0) pulled with 3-2 just 30 seconds into the final period, but they couldn’t get the equalizer against Black Hawks goalie Matej Tomek, who finished with 18 saves.
