CEDAR RAPIDS — Mason Palmer scored 1 minute, 49 seconds into overtime to lift Waterloo to a 3-2 United States Hockey League road win Saturday night at Cedar Rapids.

Niko Esposito-Selivanov gave Waterloo (17-10-2-1) a 1-0 lead 7 minutes, 11 seconds into the game, and Cedar Rapids (12-11-5-1) tied it just over eight minutes later as the opening period ended 1-1.

The RoughRiders went up 2-1 with the only goal of the second period.

Waterloo got a break early in the third period when Jared Moe stopped a penalty shot by Cedar Rapids’ Marc McLaughlin. Jackson Cates then converted a power-play opportunity for the Black Hawks 6:08 into the third to tie it again at 2-2, and that’s where it remained through the end of regulation.
