Waterloo West's boys rallied with wins in the final four singles matches and No. 3 doubles to earn a thrilling 5-4 win over Columbus late Friday afternoon.
The Wahawks' victory included match tiebreak wins from Zach Heyerhoff, Nick Ritland and Andrew Christensen. Columbus won one match tiebreak with Daniel Buchanan and Dylan Mack prevailing at No. 2 doubles.
In the girls' metro tennis dual, Columbus didn't drop a set as it swept West by a 9-0 score. The Sailors won 10 of the 12 singles sets by a 6-0 margin and posted three 6-0 set victories during doubles play.
