CEDAR FALLS — Waverly-Shell Rock handed Cedar Falls its first boys’ soccer defeat of the season, 2-1 in a shootout, in a makeup game at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex.
The Go-Hawks (2-0) got a regulation goal from Rodrigue Sagbo and the Tigers (5-1) countered with a score by Oskar Brocka with an assist from Luke Loughren.
Sam Burken finished with five saves in the Tiger goal.
COLUMBUS TRIUMPHS: Waterloo Columbus had three golfers shoot 45 or better and edged Aplington-Parkersburg by one stroke for the team victory Friday at a triangular contested at Gates Park Golf Course.
A-P’s Dylan Ellis took medalist honors with a 39 and Kobe Rherd tied for third at 44, but Columbus had three golfers among the top five. Ben Sinnott was second at 43 and Charlie Lorenz and Ryan Glass shot 45s to tie for fifth. Ben Skyles rounded out the Sailors’ scorers with a 47.
