IOWA FALLS — Iowa Falls-Alden/AGWSR had to dig deep Saturday to keep its perfect season alive.
Hudson’s 13th-ranked boys’ soccer team (13-5) pushed the Cadets (19-0) to the brink in a Class 2A substate final, but IFA/AGWSR was able to hang on for a 4-3 victory and a berth in the state tournament.
Marcos Vila had two goals and an assist, Logan Steelman had a goal and two assists and Logan Ward had a goal and an assist for the Cadets. Meanwhile, Koltan Peterson and Logan Ward combined for eight saves in goal.
IOWA CITY WEST 7, WATERLOO WEST 0: Iowa City West avenged a late-season, 3-2 defeat to Waterloo West in a big way in a Class 3A substate final in Iowa City.
The Trojans, ranked 14th, dominated the rematch and ended the 13th-ranked Wahawks’ season with a 15-7 record.
DYERSVILLE BECKMAN 4, WATERLOO COLUMBUS 0: Top-ranked Dyersville Beckman moved into the Class 1A state tournament with a 4-0 shutout of ninth-ranked Waterloo Columbus in a substate final Saturday.
Beckman edged the Sailors 1-0 in an early season meeting.
Zach Holton had 10 saves against the Blazers Saturday, but Columbus couldn’t get any offense going as it saw its season end at 12-8.
