OSAGE - Unlike the Washington Redskins' new offensive coordinator, North Fayette head coach Bob Lape doesn't have experience calling Bingo. The Hawks' coach, however, was comfortable calling multiple numbers within his Wing-T offense Friday night.

All four cogs in North Fayette's rushing attack found the end zone en route to a 35-3 win over Osage in a Class 2A quarterfinal battle of undefeated teams at Sawyer Field. Tanner Mork led Hawks with 131 yards and two TDs on 30 carries. Reid Nuss, Jake Greco and Tom Nesvik each broke runs longer than 25 yards as North Fayette rushed 64 times for 372 yards on the night.

"We feel like we've got a four-headed monster, and it's going to take a good, good football team to beat us," Lape said after his team advanced to the state semifinals for the second time in three seasons.

After surrendering a 26-yard field goal on Osage's opening drive, North Fayette (12-0) responded with touchdowns on five of its six drives in the middle two quarters. The signature score came with 4:06 left in the second quarter when Nuss faked a handoff and scampered 59 yards on a fourth-and-three belly trap.

"I just remember getting open on the sideline and seeing open field," Nuss said of the play that gave his team a 14-3 halftime lead. "The guy (in the secondary) over-pursued, I made a cut back and I was there."

In the third quarter, North Fayette delivered a quick knockout blow after Mork's first touchdown when K.J. Abernathy lined the ensuing kickoff off an Osage blocker and the Hawks recovered the ball. Nesvik then scampered 29 yards to the outside, setting up Mork's second TD.

Defensively, North Fayette recorded two interceptions and one fumble recovery against an Osage team that had scored more than 40 points in each of its first two postseason games. The Hawks held Osage (11-1) to 4 of 16 passing and 75 yards rushing.

"Our guys haven't been getting much respect defensively," Lape said. "We play a bend but not break, and it takes a while to get used to what they're trying to do and get a feel for the game. After the first drive, (Osage) didn't do anything."

Next up for No. 2 North Fayette is a showdown with top-rated Solon.
