Gladbrook-Reinbeck’s Matt Roeding was recently named the Class A recipient of the 2017 Iowa Football Coaches Association Ed Thomas Award.
Roeding, a senior with a 4.0 grade-point average, helped the Rebels win back-to-back Class A state championships and an undefeated 2016 season.
The Thomas Award, developed in honor of the legendary Aplington-Parkersburg coach, recognizes one senior in each division of high school football for their achievements and citizenship both on and off the field.
Iowa Public Television will broadcast the girls’ state soccer championship games live from Cownie Soccer Park in Des Moines.
Finals for all three classes are scheduled for Saturday, June 10. The Class 1A game will take place at 11 a.m., followed by 2A at 1:30 p.m. and 3A at 4 p.m.
