DYERSVILLE — Fourth-ranked Waterloo Columbus jumped out to a 3-0 first-half lead and went on to defeat Dyersville Beckman 4-1 in girls’ socccer Monday night.

Kiki Cabrera got the scoring started in the 27th minute, then buried a penalty kick three minutes later for a 2-0 lead. Kate Shannon’s goal made it 3-0 at the break.

Olivia Fain scored the Sailors’ final goal in the second half. Ana Ortiz, Emily Surma and Bella Fain had assists for Columbus, which improved to 8-4 with its third straight win.

BENTON 6, WATERLOO EAST 0: Taylor McManemy scored twice to lead Benton Community to a 6-0 non-conference girls’ soccer win over Waterloo East Monday.

Benton improved to 3-7 on the season.

Boys’ soccer

CEDAR RAPIDS WASHINGTON 5, CEDAR FALLS 0: Keaton Woods tallied three goals to power 13th-ranked Cedar Rapids Washington past Cedar Falls in Mississippi Valley Conference boys’ soccer.

John Henry Green and Exuace Kaya also found the net for the Warriors (8-6). Cedar Falls slipped to 6-7 on the season.

SUMNER-FREDERICKSBURG WINS NICL: Sumner-Fredericksburg had four golfers finish among the top seven as the Cougars captured the North Iowa Cedar League East tournament title Monday at Jesup.

Sydney Rhea (95), Mariah Nuss (98), Alyssa Swehla (99) and Kiley Kime (100) led Sumner-Fredericksburg to a 392 total. Waterloo Columbus, led by Maddie Randall’s fourth-place round of 97, was second at 405.

Dike-New Hartford took the top two individual spots with Morgan Weber earning medalist honors with an 83 and Katie Camarata carding a 91.

WAHLERT WINS MVC DIVISIONAL: Dubuque Wahlert shot 369 Monday to capture the team title at the Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Divisional meet at Hunters Ridge in Marion.

The Golden Eagles finished at 369 with Linn-Mar second at 375.

Waterloo West finished fifth, led by Hanna Zikuda and Lenora Herman with rounds of 103, while Waterloo East was led by Riley Denton with a 115.

After two rounds of the season series, Wahlert leads Linn-Mar 732-754. Jordan Amelon of Iowa City West is the individual leader at 165.
