LA PORTE CITY — Megan Hudson became Union’s all-time kills leader Tuesday as the Knights defeated Hudson in a battle of Top 10 teams.

Union, ranked fourth in Class 3A, improved to 8-1 with the 25-13, 25-16, 25-19 sweep. Hudson, No. 13 in Class 1A, lost for the first time in 12 matches this season.

Megan Hudson ran her career kills total to 1,139 for the new Knights record.

JANESVILLE 3, NORTH TAMA 0 — Bree Thompson hammered North Tama for 17 kills as No. 1 Janesville rolled to a 25-12, 25-7, 25-14 Iowa Star Conference victory.

Alisa Bengen had 27 assists for the Wildcats (4-4), Gillian Gergen added six kills and five blocks and Kennedy Meister and Morgan Charley finished with 10 digs each.

CEDAR FALLS 3, CEDAR RAPIDS PRAIRIE 1 — Cedar Falls charged back from an opening-set loss to turn back Cedar Rapids Prairie in Mississippi Valley Conference action, 19-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-19.

Junior Taylor Lynch led the Tigers (8-1) with 16 kills while adding three blocks and three digs. Tayah Mahi had 41 of the Tigers’ 44 assists and added six digs and four kills.

CLARKSVILLE 3, WATERLOO CHRISTIAN 0 — Clarksville handled Waterloo Christian in the Regents’ Iowa Star opener Tuesday night, 25-11, 25-17, 25-15.

Makayla Holub hit .500 with nine kills and 11 digs for the Indians (1-4), while Chelsea Capper had 12 digs and Kylie Smith a team-best 14 along with 16 assists. Sydney Nystrom led Waterloo Christian in kills with six.

COLUMBUS 3, BCLUW 0 — Waterloo Columbus (9-1), got back on track after dropping its first match of the season to Mount Vernon on Saturday, defeating BCLUW 25-17, 25-13, and 25-16.

Kaylee Goecke of BCLUW had 15 digs in the match.

VALLEY LUTHERAN 3, COLO-NESCO 1 — Valley Lutheran (3-2) posted its second straight victory, defeating Colo-Nesco (2-6) in four sets, 25-9, 25-23, 20-25, 25-19.

Valley Lutheran will go for its third straight win when GMG visits Cedar Falls on Thursday.

CEDAR RAPIDS XAVIER 3, WATERLOO WEST 0 — Charlotte Richards led sixth-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier (Class 4A) past Waterloo West Tuesday, 25-13, 25-15, 25-10.

The Saints improved to 9-0 on the season.

LINN-MAR 3, WATERLOO EAST 0 — Linn-Mar overpowered Waterloo East in Mississippi Valley Conference action, 25-7, 25-7, 25-10.

The Lions, ranked 10th in Class 5A, improved to 8-3 on the season.
