The rain and cold weather that continued Monday took a toll on the metro high school sports schedule.
Three events were rescheduled for tonight — the Waverly-Shell Rock at Cedar Falls girls’ soccer game, the Mississippi Valley Conference Super Meet girls’ golf tournament in Cedar Rapids and the New Hampton Invitational boys’ track meet featuring Valley Lutheran, Aplington-Parkersburg, Crestwood, Oelwein and Waukon.
Waterloo Columbus also lost a pair of tennis duals to the wet weather. The Sailor boys rescheduled their meet against Decorah for Thursday, while the Columbus girls will now play at Oelwein Friday.
A girls’ track meet at Independence that included Waterloo East was cancelled.
DENVER 3, WATERLOO EAST 1: In one event that did take place as scheduled Monday, Denver recorded a 3-1 non-conference boys’ soccer victory over Waterloo East.
Elias Seehase knocked in a pair of goals for the Cyclones (2-11), while Cameron Dolan also connected. Kain Eagle and Blake Ryherd notched assists.
