Cedar Falls junior Joe Schneider was named to the Valley Division first team in the Mississippi Valley Conference all-conference boys’ tennis team.

Teammates Siddharta Kalala and Cullan Meyer were honorable mention as were Waterloo West’s Zach Heyerhoff and Dane Hurst in the Mississippi Division.

On the girls’ side, Cedar Falls freshman Krisha Keeran was a first team selection in the Valley Division, while Waterloo West’s Yassie Buchanan, a junior, was a second team pick in the Mississippi Division.

Meghan Saak and Jamie Knox were honorable mention selections for the Tigers, while Meredith Eighmey and Nermina Kovacevic received similar honors in the Mississippi Division.

The Cedar Valley SportsPlex is accepting registrations for its Youth Tennis Programs.

The Quick Start program that offers two four-week sessions beginning in June that includes 50-minute lessons twice a week for $37.

The National Junior Tennis Program offers 50-minute lessons twice weekly for four weeks plus Friday Fun Days for $42.

The Junior Team Tennis program offers 1-hour lessons twice weekly for four weeks for $47, and the Tournament Group offers instruction and match play two hours daily, three days a week for eight weeks for $57.

Golf

The Cedar Valley SportsPlex is still accepting registrations for the Katoski/Kiwanis Pee Wee Golf Classic set for June 20 at Gates Park.

The classic is for boys and girls, separate divisions, aged 3 to 9.

Registration for the even is $7 and can be made at the Sportsplex at 300 Jefferson Street or by calling (319) 291-0165.

Waterloo Leisure Services has opened registration for the Elks Junior Golf Classic set for July 18 at South Hills.

The classic is open for boys and girls aged 10-17.
