A largely familiar cast of talented girls has returned to the 2017-18 All-Metro basketball team.

Juniors Kerris Roberts of Waterloo East and Na’Tracia Ceaser of Waterloo West have returned to the first team. They’re joined by multi-year All-Metro seniors Kiana Barney and Cynthia Wolf, who have become impact players within a Cedar Falls program that recently earned its fourth consecutive trip to the Class 5A state tournament.

Barney and Wolf’s future Northern Iowa teammate, Kamryn Finley, a transfer from Linn-Mar, and Cedar Falls sophomore point guard Emerson Green round out the first team as voted on by the coaches of East, West, Waterloo Columbus, Waterloo Christian and Cedar Falls.

Kiana Barney, a 1,000-point career scorer, became a four-time All-Metro selection with first-team honors the final three seasons. She ranked fifth in blocked shots this past season in Class 5A.

Wolf is a two-time first-team selection after reaching the second team as a sophomore. She ranked third among 5A’s shot blockers and finished fifth in the class in rebounding.

Finley, a 1,000-point career scorer, finished among the state leaders in steals while also leading Cedar Falls in assists. Green enjoyed a breakthrough season to secure her first All-Metro honor. She led the Tigers with 14.9 points a game, while also hitting a team-high 33-pointers at a 43 percent success rate, and finishing just five assists and two steals back of Finley for the team lead in those categories.

The 1,000-point club includes Roberts, as well. She reached that milestone as a junior, leading East with 19.1 points a game. A three-time first-team All-Metro selection, Roberts also led the Trojans in rebounds and steals.

Ceaser averaged 15.9 points during her third first-team campaign and led West in made 3-pointers and free throws with her shots from the stripe falling at an 80 percent success rate.

Columbus’ multi-sport standout Olivia Fain returned to the second team after leading the Sailors in rebounds, assists and steals. She was joined on the second unit by West sophomore point guard Lauren Conrey and Wahawk junior Jada Draine along with East’s perimeter shooting threat Amanee Clark and Cedar Falls freshman phenom Anaya Barney.
