WATERLOO — Leah Frost and her Waterloo East teammates left little doubt Friday at Maple Lanes as the Trojans dealt Cedar Falls its first girls’ bowling defeat of the season.

Frost rolled a perfect 300 game and four of her teammates shot 218 or better in the opening game as East took control on the way to a 3,227-2,842 victory.

Frost finished with a two-game series of 513, and Abbie Williams put together scores of 223 and 257 for a 480.

In the boys’ matchup, it was Cedar Falls that remained undefeated (4-0) with a dominating 3,140-2,522 triumph. Dylan Swatek-Briggs opened with a 279 and led the Tigers with a 491 series.

Iowa City West (6-1) jumped out to a 42-13 halftime lead and doused any hopes of an East rally by outscoring the Trojans 14-2 in the third period. West finished with 17 steals and six blocked shots.

Kerris Roberts tallied 16 points for East, but nobody else managed more than two.

Postponements

Basketball games involving three metro schools were postponed by Friday’s snowstorm.

Waterloo Christian will play its girls-boys Iowa Star Conference doubleheader at Tripoli Monday. Makeup dates for the Meskwaki Settlement School at Valley Lutheran girls’ game and the Waterloo Columbus at Aplington-Parkersburg girls’ and boys’ games were not immediately available.

Waterloo Swim’s boys’ dual meet at Decorah Friday was cancelled. There were no immediate plans to reschedule the event.

In addition, Saturday’s Crestwood at Waterloo West boys’ basketball matchup was also cancelled.
