DUBUQUE — Second-ranked Cedar Falls jumped on Dubuque Wahlert early and never let up Tuesday on the way to a 73-34 Mississippi Valley Conference girls’ basketball win.

The Tigers (19-1, 11-1) allowed just six first-quarter points while building a 28-6 advantage. They stretched it to 51-17 by halftime and cruised to their 16th consecutive win.

Senior guard Kamryn Finley scored 15 of her 20 points in the first half. Kiana Barney added 13 points and Cynthia Wolf 12.

DUBUQUE HEMPSTEAD 58, WATERLOO EAST 43: Waterloo East battled back, but couldn’t overcome a sluggish first half in a Mississippi Valley Conference loss to Dubuque Hempstead.

The Trojans fell behind 30-10 at halftime and although they outscored the Mustangs in the second half, the deficit was too much to overcome.

Amanee Clark had 20 points and Kerris Roberts 15 for East (5-16, 0-12).

JESUP 58, COLUMBUS 32: Emily Treptow had 17 points and five steals to lead Jesup to a North Iowa Cedar League win over Waterloo Columbus.

Jaima Tonne added 12 points for the J-Hawks (12-9, 10-6) and Payton McHone finished with 10 rebounds. Columbus slipped to 4-17 for the season.
