DES MOINES — Springville’s senior class completed a fantastic run with a third straight title as the Orioles toppled previously unbeaten Newell-Fonda 60-49 in the Class 1A girls’ state basketball championship game.

Mikayla Nachazel racked up 25 points, 11 rebounds and three steals, while Rylee Menster added 14 points, four assists and two steals to lead Springville, which finished 24-3. Nachazel and Menster will be teammaates at Minnesota State-Mankato next season.

Springville broke a 13-13 tie early in the second quarter and never surrendered the lead. Newell-Fonda was within 56-47 in the fourth quarter, but the Orioles iced it from the free-throw line.
