WATERLOO — Second-ranked Cedar Falls bolted to a 24-9 lead after the opening quarter and cruised past Waterloo East 85-30 in a metro girls’ basketball matchup Friday.

The Tigers (20-1, 12-1) led 56-15 at halftime on the way to their 17th straight victory.

Five players scored in double figures for Cedar Falls, which made 11 shots from 3-point range on the night. Emerson Green finished with 16 points, Kamryn Finley had 14, Kiana Barney added 13, Anaya Barney chipped in 12 and Cynthia Wolf recorded 11.

Kerris Roberts’ 13 points led East (5-17, 0-13).

IOWA CITY WEST 65, WATERLOO WEST 33: Iowa City West finished the regular season with a 65-33 win over Waterloo West Friday night.

“We faced an outstanding team that played on their home court tonight,” noted West coach Tony Pappas. “They showed why they are one of the top teams in the state.”

The Lady Trojans (14-7, 11-2) ended the regular season with three straight wins and captured first place in the Mississippi Division of the Mississippi Valley Conference.

Waterloo’s West’s NaTracia Ceaser led the Wahawks (11-11, 4-9) with 20 points, but she was the only player to reach the double-digit mark.

West will host Ames Feb. 17 in the opening round of the regional tournament.

CLARKSVILLE 73, WATERLOO CHRISTIAN 35: Although it was a day later than originally scheduled, the Clarksville girls opened regional tournament play with a 73-35 win over Waterloo Christian Friday.

Sophomore Chloe Ross led the Indians with 18 points while classmates Kori Wedeking added 14 and Janet Borchardt 13, respectively.

After leading 39-19 at the half, the Clarksville defense limited the Regents (1-19) to two points in the third quarter. Amber Smith finished with 14 points for Waterloo Christian.

Clarksville (19-3) will host Gladbrook-Reinbeck in the second round of the regionals at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
