DIKE — Aplington-Parkersburg delivered a late knockout and defeated Dike-New Hartford 75-63 Tuesday in a North Iowa Cedar League showdown of Top 10 teams.

With four minutes remaining in the battle of conference rivals, the fifth-ranked Falcons splashed in three consecutive 3-pointers and held off the ninth-ranked Wolverines the rest of the way.

Carter Cuvelier and Grant Truax scored 18 points each for Aplington-Parkersburg (5-0, 3-0), while Isaac Jorgensen led five players in double figures for Dike-New Hartford (4-1, 3-1) with 16 points.

JESUP 44, DENVER 41: Jesup stormed back from a seven-point halftime deficit to take a three-point lead into the fourth quarter, then got a key layup from Alex Moore to help fend off Denver in a North Iowa Cedar League game.

The Cyclones’ Sam Joerger led all scorers with 17 points while Joey Youngblut topped Jesup with 12.

AGWSR 66, BCLUW 49: Alex Hanes scored 19 points, including a 10-for-10 night from the free-throw line, as AGWSR picked up its first North Iowa Cedar League win of the season.

WAVERLY-SHELL ROCK 37, NEW HAMPTON 34: Waverly-Shell Rock had to dig deep Tuesday for a narrow road win over New Hampton in Northeast Iowa Conference action.

New Hampton guard Keegen John had 24 points, but the Go-Hawks (3-2, 3-0) shut down everyone else and got three key free throws from Braden Holmquist and Jacob Bahe to pull out the win.

DECORAH 67, OELWEIN 42: Decorah picked up its first win with a strong finish against Oelwein.

Jerod Redenius of the Vikings had 18 points while Dom Robertson of the Huskies finished with 15.

GRUNDY CENTER 44, WEST MARSHALL 41, OT: Ninth-ranked Grundy Center had to work overtime to keep its record unblemished Tuesday.

The Spartans’ Maddie McMartin hit two clutch free throws in the extra period that helped provide the margin of victory as the Grundy Center defense held the Mustangs to just one point in the extra period.

CLARKSVILLE 46, TRIPOLI 43, OT: Clarksville pulled out an Iowa Star Conference victory in overtime to improve to 7-1 overall and 6-1 in league games.

Tripoli (5-2, 4-2) connected on a layup at the end of regulation to tie the game at 39-39 and force the extra period. Clarksville got key buckets from Chloe Ross and Kori Wedeking in overtime to lock up the win. Wedeking was the game’s leading scorer with 18 points.

JESUP 55, DENVER 46: Jesup built a 30-22 halftime lead and didn’t let Denver get any closer than five the rest of the way as the J-Hawks won a North Iowa Cedar League matchup.

Jaima Tonne led Jesup (4-3, 3-1) with 16 points, while high-scoring honors went to Kambrie Clinton of Denver (3-5, 0-5) with 18 points, including four 3-point buckets.

DECORAH 48, OELWEIN 40: Decorah pulled away from Oelwein in the final three minutes to win a back-and-forth Northeast Iowa battle.

The Vikings (1-6, 1-2), who trailed by four points midway through the second quarter, took a 16-point lead late in the third before Oelwein (2-5, 0-3) charged back to get within two points at 39-37.

Amber Rosenstiel piled up 22 points for Oelwein while Lindsey McEnaney’s 13 led Decorah.

DIKE-NEW HARTFORD 65, APLINGTON-PARKERSBURG 42: Dike-New Hartford’s 14th-ranked team knocked Aplington-Parkersburg for a 20-3 loop early and rolled to North Iowa Cedar League win.
