DECORAH — Host Decorah won nine event titles and claimed the eight-team championship during Thursday night’s girls’ track and field meet.

The Vikings won five relays and added victories from Sarah Mikkelson in the 400 (1:02.01), Katie Nimrod in the 800 (2:23.71), Brooke Berns in the 200 (27.1) and Rylea Ranum in the 400 hurdles (1:10.52.

One individual and one relay win keyed Waverly-Shell Rock to a second place finish. The Go-Hawks recorded a score of 101, 86 points behind winner Decorah’s 187 total.

Karlie Wosepka earned a win in the 100-meter hurdles, running a time of 16.50 seconds.

Also winning for W-SR was distance medley team of Krissa Larson, Bailey Walsh, Grace Hoins and Anna Hoins.

Waterloo East, which finished fourth with 58 points, took first in three events, with Alanna Muhammad playing a hand in all three.

Muhammad won the 100 in 13.26 and was also part of wins in the 4x200 and 4x100 relay.

Muhammad, Jasmine Dunn, Kerris Roberts and Amanee Clark ran the 4x200 in 1:48.35. In the 4x100, Muhammad, Dunn, Roberts and Shamya Jenkins ran a 49.96.

4x200 relay team lifts West

Madelyn Solomon, Allison Trenkamp, TaJanik Williams and Zoey Thune took first in the 4x200 meter relay as West placed sixth at the Waukee Girls Relays.

The group’s run of 1:46.15 was the meet highlight for the Wahawks, who finished with a score of 62 points.

Waukee ran away with first place, scoring 223. Carlisle was second with 142.6.

Boys’ golf

APLINGTON PARKERSBURG 154, CATHOLIC 166: Luke Pruisner shot a match-best 35 to lead Aplington Parkersburg to a 12-stroke victory.

Joe Duggan led the Sailors with a 38, while Henry Walters was right behind with 39.

Girls’ golf

COLUMBUS 200, APLINGTON PARKERSBURG 236: Maddie Randall and Caitlin Heine each shot 48 to tie for top individual honors in a Sailor win.

Lily Christensen (51) and Margaret Harn (53) rounded out the scoring for Columbus.

WATERLOO WEST 9, WATERLOO EAST 0: It was all Wahawks in this metro tennis match, as they dropped just one game in a dominant sweep.

Girls’ soccer

The Cedar Falls girls’ soccer team overcame an early one-goal deficit to defeat Cedar Rapids Jefferson in overtime, 2-1.

The Tigers (2-3) tied the contest on a first half goal from Abby Hendrickson before Kate Motzko scored the game-winner on a penalty kick in the extra period.
