BROOKINGS, S.D. -- South Dakota State got pins at the first two weights and went on to hand Northern Iowa a 22-16 Big 12 Conference wrestling defeat Sunday.

The Jackrabbits (9-2, 4-0) got an upset pin from 29th-ranked Connor Brown over No. 17 Jay Schwarm at 125 pounds and a first-period pin from top-ranked Seth Gross at 133.

UNI's Josh Alber and Max Thomsen followed with wins. South Dakota State answered by taking the next two matches for a 19-7 lead. Seventh-ranked Taylor Lujan defeated No. 9 David Kocer 3-1 at 174 pounds and ninth-ranked Drew Foster pulled the Panthers (5-3, 2-1) within 19-13 with a decision at 184.

South Dakota State then clinched the dual at 197 where No. 9 Nate Rotert, a three-time NCAA Championship qualifier, defeated No. 13 Jacob Holschlag, 5-1.
