• The Northern Iowa women's basketball team will play a 14-game home schedule in 2017-18, including five non-conference games inside the McLeod Center.

The Panthers are coming off a 24-9 season that saw UNI earn its first ever at-large berth into the NCAA tournament.

The Panthers will play an exhibition opener at home against Sioux Falls on Nov. 5, before opening regular season play also at home against IUPUI on Nov. 10.

UNI will also host in-state rivals Iowa State on Nov. 14, and Iowa on Dec. 17.

Among its featured road games will be the Central Florida Tournament on Nov. 25-26 in Orlando, and a trip to Kansas State on Dec. 21.

  • The Northwoods League has announced its rosters for the 2017 Major League Dreams Showcase to be held Aug. 8 in Madison, Wis.

Waterloo Buck third baseman Zach Malis has been selected to play in the doubleheader playing on the home team in the 7:35 p.m. second game.

The sophomore from Grand Canyon University and a native of Tucson, Ariz., is hitting .326 with five home runs and 35 RBIs for Waterloo this season.
