CARBONDALE, Ill. — The University of Northern Iowa volleyball team clinched the No. 2 seed for the Missouri Valley Conference tournament with a sweep at Southern Illinois Sunday.
The Panthers won by scores of 25-16, 25-20, 25-19 and earned a first-round bye in the MVC tourney that begins Thursday, Nov. 23 in Normal, Ill.
Karlie Taylor delivered a career-best .483 attack percentage and finished with 14 kills and 13 digs in Sunday’s win. Bri Weber also had a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs, and Piper Thomas added 11 kills.
Heather Hook finished with 35 assists and Kendyl Sorge joined the group with double-digit digs with 12 to go with seven assists. Thomas led gthe blockers with two solos and two assists.
The Panthers hit .342 as a team with 50 kills against just 10 errors, while Southern Illinois (6-21, 5-11) finished at .157 with nobody reaching double digits in kills.
UNI (24-7 overall, 14-3 MVC) wraps up its regular season Saturday at 5 p.m. at Drake.
