EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The University of Northern Iowa volleyball team extended its season-long winning streak to six in a row with a sweep Saturday at Evansville. UNI won by set scores of 25-16, 25-13, 25-19.
UNI (16-4 overall, 6-0 Missouri Valley) defeated Evansville (6-12 overall, 0-6 MVC) for the 18th consecutive time. UNI improved to 48-1 all-time against the Purple Aces.
The Panthers notched a .300 or better attack percentage for the third straight match. UNI hit .343 against Evansville after posting a .398 attack effort against Bradley and a .313 attack percentage during a home win over Illinois State.
A balanced offensive attack guided UNI on this night. Piper Thomas and Karlie Taylor each finished with 11 kills, Jaydlin Seehase added nine and Bri Weber recorded eight kills.
UNI’s lone senior Heather Hook posted an all-around effort that included 34 assists, six kills on .462 hitting, six digs, a service ace and a block.
UNI will returns home this weekend to face Southern Illinois 7 p.m. Friday and Missouri State 7 p.m. Saturday in what may be a showdown of the MVC’s top two teams.
